Psalm 131 | Calm & Content

It was great to have Nate Hamblin preach this past Sunday.  He covered Psalm 133 and the beauty of living in unity.  Psalm 133 was a 3 verse “Psalm of Ascent” written by King David.  If you missed it, you can find it on the website.

This Sunday, we will continue in our “Wise Words” series on the book of Psalms in Psalm 131.  Psalm 131 is also a 3-verse psalm of ascent written by King David.  David had learned the source of true peace and contentment.

As Americans we enjoy more modern conveniences and time saving technology than any previous generation and yet many Americans are restless, hurried, and emotionally exhausted.  Significant numbers of people go to bed tired but can’t sleep.  They have restless souls searching for peace and contentment in all the wrong places.

Psalm 131 reminds us that true lasting peace comes from knowing that our lives are held by a faithful, loving, and powerful God.  As such, we don’t need to know everything, control everything, or be responsible for everything.  Peace and contentment are available, regardless of our circumstances.

Join us Sunday at 9AM  or 11AM.

We’ve proudly partnered with them from the beginning across all of Henry County because it perfectly aligns with our mission to help the lost get found and the found live free in Jesus!

Here’s how you can make an impact this school year:

  • Enroll Your Student: Give your child the opportunity to learn God’s Word during the school week.
  • Serve in Classrooms: Sign up to volunteer in the classroom to directly mentor and encourage students during class time.
  • Pray: Ask God to open doors, protect students and volunteers, and transform hearts.
  • Give: Support the ministry financially to help keep this program growing in our community. Give Here.

Visit lifewise.org to enroll your student, sign up to volunteer, or make a donation!

This week’s sermon focuses on the concept of good soil, contrasting it with previous discussions about hard, rocky, and weedy soil. It emphasizes that good soil does not exert effort but remains receptive to the seed of God’s word. The community is invited to gather for worship, enjoy a cookout, and participate in events such as Baptisms and Connect Groups starting this September. Additionally, there’s a seminar on healing emotional wounds scheduled for October.
