It’s easy to be happy when everything is going your way. But let’s be honest, real life doesn’t always play out like that. The Apostle Paul actually wrote his warmest, most joyful letter not while sitting on a beach with his feet up, but from a dark, miserable Roman prison cell. Which raises a pretty massive question: How do you actually hold onto joy when life punches you in the mouth?
This Sunday, we are kicking off a brand-new series called Defiant Joy: Finding Peace When Life Punches Back. We will discover that biblical joy isn’t a passive mood that changes with our circumstances; it is a defiant, resilient weapon we can cultivate. Looking at Philippians 1, we’ll unpack the ultimate locker-room speech for the Christian life: Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose. Whether you are exhausted by the pressure of trying to be a “self-made” success, or you are simply looking for a peace that holds up in the trenches of real life, there is an engine of grace available to you. Plus, we will be celebrating baptisms right at the beginning of our gathering—a beautiful, physical picture of the exact rescuing grace we are talking about! Join us as we learn to drop the burden of saving ourselves and step into a joyful partnership with the God who already won the war!

Whether you’re coming from the first gathering or getting here early for the second, this is your time to refuel and relax in a low-key environment designed just for high schoolers. It’s a great way to meet new people and stay plugged into everything happening in our student ministry. We can’t wait to see you there and kick off the morning together!

Join us May 31st – June 4th from 6-8p for an incredible week of secret songs, marketplace snacks, and bold faith, concluding with our Closing Carnival on Thursday, June 4!
