Philippians 1:27-2:4 | The Power of “Unselfing”
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to grumble and complain about anything and everything? Gas prices, children’s schedules, project lists, and the weather are all targets for complaints. Chronic complaining feels harmless—like “just venting.” It isn’t. Consistent grumbling reshapes how a person thinks, feels, and relates to others.
Overtime, regular grumbling trains our brain with a negative lens. We begin to expect negative. This mindset, looking for the negative, elevates stress, steals our joy, and exhausts the people in our lives.
Thankfully, there’s a better way. This week we’ll explore more of Paul’s letter written to a church facing much to complain about. Paul’s life example and words demonstrate the power “defiant joy” has to change a grumbling heart. Join us this Sunday, (Mother’s Day), as we look at Philippians 1:27-2:4. We’ll see how “unselfing”, taking the focus off ourselves and putting it on others, has the power to overcome grumbling.

This is a simple yet powerful way for our entire church family to provide help, hope, and healing to those in our community, because we believe every life is worth it. To participate, stop by the table in the lobby this Sunday to pick up your baby bottle.
Spend the next few weeks filling it with loose change, cash, or checks, and be sure to return your filled bottle to the church by Father’s Day! Every dollar and every coin goes directly toward changing lives, so let’s work together to fill these bottles and show our support for life and families in our community.
Friends Under 50 | Connection & Conversation
If you are looking for a place to slow down and build authentic relationships with others in the same season of life, we would love for you to join us! Our Friends Under 50 gathering is all about creating a space where we can step away from the busyness of the week and simply enjoy being together.
Whether you’re new to Crossroads or have been here for years, this is a casual, no-pressure environment designed to help you meet new people and strengthen existing friendships. To make the evening even better, we’re encouraging everyone to bring along a favorite appetizer or dessert to share with the group!

Can you believe we’re already wrapping up the school year? We’re throwing one last massive youth gathering on Wednesday, May 20, from 6:45–8:00 PM!

Step into the adventure of the early “underground church” as we explore ancient Rome this summer! Registration is officially open for both kids and volunteers. Join us May 31st – June 4th from 6-8p for an incredible week of secret songs, marketplace snacks, and bold faith, concluding with our Closing Carnival on Thursday, June 4!
🛡️ For the Kids (Age 3–4th Grade): Enlist your children for a journey they’ll never forget as they evade the Empire and learn about the unstoppable love of God.
📜 For the Volunteers: The underground church needs leaders! Whether you want to lead a tribe of kids or help behind the scenes, we have a place for you in the “Resistance.”
