Jesus is the church’s Chief Shepherd, under which Crossroads practices a shared leadership model of church government that consists of the biblical offices of elder and deacon (management team member (MGMT)) (Philippians 1:1; 1 Timothy 3), and a staff that equips the members for the work of ministry.
The role of CR's paid staff is to effectively equip the people of our church for their mission to help the lost get found and the found live free. Their role aligns with Ephesians 4:11-12, which states that church leaders are given “for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ.”
Jesus leads the church, elders oversee and shepherd the church, guiding the church’s vision, leadership, and pastoral care. They support the Pastoral Staff in ensuring the spiritual health of the congregation. This role is consistent with 1 Peter 5:2, which instructs elders to “shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight… not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you.”
The Management Team serves as the church’s executive administrative authority, overseeing the operational and financial aspects of ministry. They coordinate the practical tasks required to keep the church running smoothly. This role aligns with 1 Peter 4:10, which encourages believers to “use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” Additionally, Matthew 25:-14-30(the Parable of the Talents) and Luke 16:1-13 (the Parable of the Dishonest Manager) both emphasize the importance of stewardship, accountability, and wise use of resources—core aspects of the Management Team’s responsibilities.
